Exfoliation

Exfoliating once a week will do wonders for your skin it gets rid of old skin cells that hangs on to your skins surface and reveals the new young fresh skin. I shower everyday with a loofah sponge, the texture of the sponge helps get rid of dead skin cells. I also use a daily facial cleanser that has 2.0% Salicylic acid, the acid acts as an exfoliant  because it eats away at the dead skin on your face. But once a week you should do a thorough exfoliation on both your body and face (separately). The skin on your face is very thin especially around the eyes, so you should use a different exfoliant on your face then the one you would use for your body. Most body exfoliants have big granules which can actually cause damage to your face, it can cause small scratches which may not be visible but will scar and eventually make your skin look discolored. I recently purchased some Mary Kay products and I absolutely love them.

For the face i chose: Microdermabrasion
It comes in two bottles. Step 1: Refine. This has tiny little crystals which will slough off dead skin cells. You don't have to use a lot, squeeze some product on your finger tips and work in circular motions onto your damp face. If you feel it's too corrosive you can add a little bit of water to help work it in. Rub it in in circular motion all over your face and neck for about two minutes. If you have sensitive skin maybe you should just do it for one minute, two minutes may be too much for your skin. Then rinse your face off with warm water.
Step 2: Replenish. The best time to put good products on your skin is after exfoliation. The product will penetrate your skin better after removing all that dead skin. This product is rich in vitamins, antioxidants and anti-irritants which nourish your skin.

For my body i chose: Embrace Harmony Sugar Scrub from their Private Spa Collection

This product is very easy to use. While in the shower put some in the palm of your hands and literally rub it all over your body, focusing on the dry areas like the elbows, knees and ankles. The granules are so big you can feel the dead skin being scrapped off your body. It has a gel that leaves your skin feeling velvety smooth and it smells good too. After you finish showering, pat your skin but leave it damp and apply your favorite lotion. Your moist skin and your open pores will absorb all the lotion rich with moisturizers. Your skin will glow and feel as soft as a baby's bottom.

Over-exfoliation is possible, do not exfoliate more than once a week. Signs of over exfoliation may be red irritated looking skin that is sensitive to touch.

  1. I have that sugar scrub, my dad a while back bought me a mary kay basket for my birthday and it came with the sugar scrub. I hope it hasn't expired.

I should try to use it more often.
