Exfoliating once a week will do wonders for your skin it gets rid of old skin cells that hangs on to your skins surface and reveals the new young fresh skin. I shower everyday with a loofah sponge, the texture of the sponge helps get rid of dead skin cells. I also use a daily facial cleanser that has 2.0% Salicylic acid, the acid acts as an exfoliant  because it eats away at the dead skin on your face. But once a week you should do a thorough exfoliation on both your body and face (separately). The skin on your face is very thin especially around the eyes, so you should use a different exfoliant on your face then the one you would use for your body. Most body exfoliants have big granules which can actually cause damage to your face, it can cause small scratches which may not be visible but will scar and eventually make your skin look discolored. I recently purchased some Mary Kay products and I absolutely love them.

For the face i chose: Microdermabrasion
It comes in two bottles. Step 1: Refine. This has tiny little crystals which will slough off dead skin cells. You don't have to use a lot, squeeze some product on your finger tips and work in circular motions onto your damp face. If you feel it's too corrosive you can add a little bit of water to help work it in. Rub it in in circular motion all over your face and neck for about two minutes. If you have sensitive skin maybe you should just do it for one minute, two minutes may be too much for your skin. Then rinse your face off with warm water.
Step 2: Replenish. The best time to put good products on your skin is after exfoliation. The product will penetrate your skin better after removing all that dead skin. This product is rich in vitamins, antioxidants and anti-irritants which nourish your skin.

For my body i chose: Embrace Harmony Sugar Scrub from their Private Spa Collection

This product is very easy to use. While in the shower put some in the palm of your hands and literally rub it all over your body, focusing on the dry areas like the elbows, knees and ankles. The granules are so big you can feel the dead skin being scrapped off your body. It has a gel that leaves your skin feeling velvety smooth and it smells good too. After you finish showering, pat your skin but leave it damp and apply your favorite lotion. Your moist skin and your open pores will absorb all the lotion rich with moisturizers. Your skin will glow and feel as soft as a baby's bottom.

Over-exfoliation is possible, do not exfoliate more than once a week. Signs of over exfoliation may be red irritated looking skin that is sensitive to touch.

I'm Obsessed

Hey ladies,

When I find something I like I use it constantly until I either get bored of it or run out. I have a couple skin and hair products that I'm obsessed with right now and I thought I'd share them and tell you why I think they are amazing. I'll start off with my newest purchase TRESemme FRESHSTART DRY SHAMPOO For Oily/Straight To Normal Hair
I swear I'm in love with this product. My hair gets oily pretty fast now a days and as I briefly explained before it takes a bit of my time to wash and straighten my hair. I heard about dry shampoo about a year ago but couldn't find a popular brand that made dry shampoo that I could purchase at a drug store. So a couple days ago I was at Target with a friend looking for hair products and I came across this. I didn't purchase it right away but I have been wanting to try this out for so long I had to go back and get it. I recently had a birthday party to attend and didn't have time to do my hair, so I followed the instructions and sprayed it lightly and evenly to my dry hair about 8-12 inches from my head and let it dry for 2 minutes. I then brushed it out, you could immediately see that it absorbed a lot of the oil in my hair. This product has starch which absorbs the oil, it leaves your hair smelling and looking great! I do recommend you only use it once before washing it out, if you overuse it you will be able to see the powder on your scalp. So leave it for a last resort. They also have this product for color treated and curly hair. You can find this product at Target and it's priced at about $6.00. You can find it a little cheaper at Check out the links. Tresemme fresh start dry hair shampoo perfect for color-treated hair - 5.7 ozTresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo - 5.7 ozTresemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo - 6 oz

Next is the REDKEN Heat Styling Thermo Actif Iron Silk 07.

Since I flat iron my hair about twice a week I asked my friend/hairstylist what I should use to protect my hair from the flat iron. She used this product on me when she styled it and I loved it. It doesn't make your hair hard or sticky and it makes it smell sooo good, and most importantly it protects my hair from the damages of using a flat iron. I don't use any chemicals in my hair and I try my best to take good care of it, I'm so glad she recommended it. This product retails at $16.50. Redken Iron Silk 07 Ultra Straightening Spray 8.5 oz.

Next is my Smooth Minerals Liquid Foundation by AVON.
This is the foundation I use during winter. My skin is significantly lighter during winter so I use two different color foundations depending on the time of year. Once summer comes around I use something a little darker since I naturally get a little darker thanks to the Florida sun.  This foundation gives me great coverage, it has SPF 12 and is gentle on your skin because it's mineral based. It goes on smooth and is so easy to blend. This product normally goes for about $11.00.

And last but definitely not least is my Studio Line Stipple Brush

I used this brush to apply my liquid foundation. You can use this brush with wet or dry products. It's soft and easy to used because of the long handle. This brush gives me an airbrush finish. I think if the bristles were a little more firm it would be a better brush, but for $3.00 I really shouldn't complain!

Easy cat eye goes a long way

If I'm in a rush to get out of the house and don't want to go all natural I stick with the same routine. I do overall foundation, black liquid or gel liner on my top lids only. Start with a thin line in the inner eye close to the tear duct gradually making it thicker as you get to your outer corner, flick it a little at the ends to give it a little wing. Heavy mascara on top lashes only , and a pretty peach lip so you don't look washed out.

Liquid liner isn't easy to apply, but practice makes almost perfect. Applying a gel liner with an angled liner brush is in my opinion a little easier. So most times I go with the gel, in the pictures I used a black liquid liner with a hard sponge tip. Remember if you make a mistake a tiny bit of makeup remover on a q-tip can solve that problem. :)

Bad Hair Day Fix

I have naturally curly hair and straightening my hair is no walk in the park. I have to wash my hair, wear a headband to make my curly baby hairs flat and flat iron it when it's completely dry. My hair takes hours to dry so when I wash it late I have to wait until the following day to straighten it which means I  have to wake up extra early to do it before work. Now I don't know about you but I am not a morning person, and I have two kids that take up most of my morning. So I wake up looking like this...

When this happens I have a little trick :) I straighten my bangs, I separate my hair to my sides, and start a braid about 2 inches away from my scalp.

Braid both sides like so...
Then get your favorite beret and put it on leaving your bangs and braids out. Get it where you want it and use bobby pins to keep it in place.

This saves me from my bad hair days. Every time.

Gillette Saves Men

Ok so let's be a honest, men don't care about having a proper skin care regimen, they care about looking awesome and smelling good (sometimes). Gillette has got a hold of this fact and ran with it, it's a great success for the company and for you boys out there. They now sell a 2-in-1 line for male skin care. Men can now take care of their skin without purchasing expensive skin care products.

Gillette Oil Control Face and Body wash will leave you clean without drying your skin out like bar soap. It's the best thing since 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, you know how you guys love that. You can purchase this body wash at your local drug store for under $5.00. If your skin is really dry you should try Hydrator and Body wash for Dry Skin. If you have sensitive skin, which is normal in men, try Hydrator and Body wash for Sensitive Skin. They have several products that will work for you, I'll post a link so you boys can see for yourself.

Pink Glitter Nails

Hi there,

I always keep my nails freshly polished, nothing looks classier than pretty manicured nails. Most times I simply polish them but sometimes I want to give them a little life and glitter always does the job. I pick a polish color, then I pick the glitter color either darker or lighter than the color of the polish.

Start by polishing all of your nails with your choice of base coat. Base coat will help your colored polish adhere longer and it will also prevent the colored nail polish from staining your natural nails.

Then polish two coats of the colored polish you decided on, don't forget to also polish your free edge. The free edge is normally where the chipping of the nail polish starts, polishing your free edge will prevent the nail polish from chipping and will keep your polish looking fresh longer.
After you have done two coats of colored polish on all your nails, do one coat of Top Coat on all your nails except for your ring fingers. The ring fingers are the ones that will get the glitter so we want to leave those for last.

After you have finished applying top coat wait a minute or two for them to dry. Have your glitter ready and place something under your hands that will catch the excess glitter, I used a paper towel. Now apply top coat to  one ring finger and immediately after sprinkle the glitter you decided on to cover the entire finger nail. The glitter will automatically stick to the wet top coat. Keep your fingers as separated as possible, this will prevent the excess glitter to fall to your other nails. Don't worry about the glitter around your nail or on your skin, that can be washed of with warm water once they have dried. Do the same steps with your other ring finger. Let them dry for several minutes then apply another hand of top coat on top of the glitter. After they dry run your fingers under warm water and lightly with your fingertips rub off the excess glitter off your skin. The glitter I used is a Martha Stewart collection, I got it at my local  Walmart for under $20.00 and it comes with 18 really pretty colors. I found a pack of 24 on for just $26.23. Martha Stewart 24-Vial Glitter Multi-Pack

OK finally here are the pretty results!

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

Hello friends,

It was time for me to clean my makeup brushes so I thought I'd share how. I don't have makeup brush cleanser so I use hair shampoo as a substitute. Brushes are either natural or synthetic, natural hair brushes are made from animals (cruel free) and synthetic are usually nylon. The shampoo doesn't dry the brush bristles out, it acts the same as it would with your own hair, using a stronger soap will damage your bristles. If your brushes are poor quality you can also use baby shampoo which will be a little easier on them.  You should wash your makeup brushes at least once a week, especially if you have acne prone skin. Using dirty brushes can cause your skin to break out due to the exposure to bacteria the brushes develop from old makeup. Keeping them clean will help them last longer and you will get the best performance out of them. Here are a couple pictures of how I did it and what i used.

I poured warm water in a tall wide container which gives me room to put all my brushes in and put about a tablespoon of shampoo in it. I used Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine.
I then put the brushes in the warm water and twirled them around to make sure they got completely wet. The shampoo will automatically starts doing its job. Take a look at all the dirt going on your face if you don't clean your brushes. Eww.  Take them out and run them under warm water until the water runs clean.
Concealer and liquid foundation brushes need a little more attention. Put a drop of shampoo on your fingertips and lather the bristles with shampoo. Be gentle, don't tug on the bristles, it will loosen them and damage the brush. Again run them under warm water until it runs clean.
Lay a towel on a flat surface where it will not be disturbed for a couple hours and lay the brushes flat to dry. Let the brushes dry completely before using them or putting them away. Putting your brushes away while they are still damp will cause them to smell and even catch mold.

Leaving them to dry overnight is your best bet.

Valentines Day Makeup

Hello friends,

As we all know Valentines Day is in less then a month and I'm already trying out different makeup looks for this love filled day. This makeup look can be for an outage with friends, first date or a romantic dinner with your other half. I wanted to do something with a pinkish color but it's difficult to put any color from the red/pink family without looking like my allergies are going bananas. So I decided to do an overall gold with pink on the outer corners and dark purple on the crease to give it some intensity. I did a medium pink blush on the cheeks to give me a little color, and the lips must call attention on a night like this so I went with a orange/red dry lipstick.

I started out with liquid foundation  for my overall coverage and set my foundation with pressed powder. I then filled in my eyebrows with my eyebrow kit and applied eyeshadow primer all over my lids. With a shadow brush I covered my lids with the loose gold mineral shadow. With a blending brush I applied a dark pink shadow on my outer corners in a circular motion working it in towards the middle of my lid, blending it well with the gold. I then used a small contouring brush to apply a little bit of dark purple shadow on the crease of my eye to give it depth and intensity. I watered my lower waterline with a black liner and applied mascara. Using an angled blush brush I applied a medium pink blush to the hollows of my cheeks and worked the excess blush to the apples of my cheeks. I finished this look with a beautiful lipstick. Most of the products I used are from they are super affordable and the quality of the products are amazing. Here are a couple pictures of the finished look and the products I used, I hope you all like it and it gives you ideas for your V-Day look!

New Year Resolution: Stay young!

Hello reader,

I'm super excited about blogging, it's something I've been wanting to do for some time now and I finally started. I really hope I can provide some useful info to those of you reading. :) Ok that's out of the way, lets get to the good stuff. Oh New Years Resolutions, why are they so hard to keep?! Lets be realistic, if it didn't work for you the last 5 new years it's most likely not going to work this time around either, I gave this some serious thought and decided to go a different route. My resolutions might not be a big deal but it's giving yourself a bit of discipline with great results! If you add something to your routine it will eventually become a habit. I'll be honest sometimes after a long day or a night out I just want to get home and relax! But taking five minutes to wash your makeup off will actually only give you more time looking young for those long days and nights with friends.  So my new years resolution is, no more going to sleep with makeup on. I know we all do it sometimes, It's very important to let your skin breath and recover from the free radicals that do damage to your skin during the day. While you sleep your skin renews at a faster pace because of your hormones and stress levels being relaxed. The last thing you want is to have a layer of makeup  fighting against your 'Beauty Sleep'! Get a good cleanser that works well removing makeup and bubbles fast, this will make your face washing session short.  If you're not feeling very lazy a good moisturizer after will make it that much better for your thirsty skin. :) I'm sure no girl has anything against looking young forever. <3
